THE HISTORY OF THE MOVEMENT AS-1895
At the foot of the Jura – between Solothurn and Biel – the story of the movement AS-1895 begins.?A movement that still has a long journey ahead of it.?Each caliber AS-1895 is a piece of Swiss watchmaking history.
WHERE IT ALL BEGAN
Grenchen (Granges in French) is still considered one of the most important centers of the Swiss watchmaking industry. Watch factories have been located in the town for around 150 years. In 1896, Adolf Schild-Hugi founded the company A. Schild & Cie, which became the?A. Schild SA or "Assa" in 1915. In this watch factory, which was taken over by his son Adolf Schild-Behnisch, the caliber AS-1895 was built in the late 1950s or early 1960s.
Adolf Schild was a gifted watchmaker of the 19th and 20th centuries. His company, A. Schild SA, produced a large number of mechanical movements for many famous watch brands.?The movements of A. Schild SA were already appreciated at that time for their proven reliability, durability and functionality.
FROM THE FACTORY TO YOUR WRIST
When the watch movement was created, people worked much more with their hands. These activities demanded a lot from the wristwatches and especially the fine movements within them.
The movement is characterized by its robustness, long service intervals and accuracy.?
The version of the caliber AS-1895 is equipped with a day-date display. The winding mechanism is outsourced to a separate module. Thanks to an "Incabloc" shock protection system, which is still in production today, the movement is well secured against shocks and is very resilient.
The balance frequency of 21,600 vibrations per hour allows long service intervals. The power reserve reaches 42 hours. Incidentally, the mechanical movement is equipped with 25 ruby jewels. Thus, the caliber AS-1895 belongs to the high-quality movements.
Precision and functionality convinced then as now.?The aforementioned qualities also correspond to the zeitgeist of the 21st century and are still in great demand on the market.
