After Charlemagne and Leo III formed the Holy Roman Empire and Charlemagne imported social media, Charlemagne's death precipitated a period of deep darkness in human history - a period featuring les rois fenaients, the do-nothing kings.

Reminds you of our do-nothing Congress doesn't it?

Joseph Alois Schumpeter postulated that capitalism can only be understood as a cycle of continuous disruption. Schumpeter was Marx's chief ideological rival. He was wrong. It is history itself that is a continuous cycle of enlightenment and darkness.
