A Historic Gathering: DVIRC's First Submarine Industrial Base Networking Event

On June 13th, the DVIRC hosted the Inaugural Submarine Industrial Base Networking Reception at the iconic Moshulu at Penn's Landing. The event was a resounding success, attracting nearly 200 attendees from five different states, all united by a common goal: to advance the mission of building submarines.
The atmosphere was charged with excitement and purpose as industry leaders, innovators, and stakeholders gathered to network, share insights, and forge new alliances. The evening was highlighted by inspiring speeches from a lineup of distinguished speakers, each bringing their unique perspectives and expertise to the forefront.
Christopher J. Scafario , President and CEO of DVIRC, opened the speaking segment with a powerful address. He called upon the region's history to inspire manufacturers and local organizations to embrace DVIRC's 2030 Manufacturing Moonshot, with the aim of turning Southeastern Pennsylvania into a globally recognized technology and innovation launch pad for advanced manufacturing.
Regan Brewer Johnson , President of the Jane Addams Resource Corporation (JARC), followed Chris by introducing Drew Crowe and announcing the launch of JARC Philadelphia. This new initiative marks a significant step forward in expanding resources and support for local manufacturers.
Drew Crowe , Founder of the New American Manufacturing Renaissance, shared his powerful testimony about how manufacturing changed his life. His story and ongoing work to inspire others to enter the manufacturing industry were both moving and motivating, highlighting the transformative potential of a career in manufacturing.

Joelle S. , Senior Fellow Emeritus at Harvard University Center for Business and Government and representative of the Submarine Industrial Base, provided valuable insights into the critical role the Submarine Industrial Base plays in supporting the nation’s defense. She emphasized the importance of maintaining the U.S.'s military advantage over countries like China and the need for skilled jobs to sustain this effort.
