The Hiroshima and Nagasaki Road Show

The Hiroshima and Nagasaki Road Show

Radioactive Nuclear Waste is being transported around the United States as if it were a hot potato. Maybe not a potato but it also contains PFAS, PFOS, PCB's and other radioactive materials.

It was secretly being moved from Lewiston, New York on the Niagara River to the Charter Township of Van Buren in Michigan on the Huron River. It took one hundred years to get to Michigan. It started out in Hanford, Washington where it was created during World War 2 as part of the project that would build the Nagasaki Atomic Bomb and kill one quarter of a million people outright and so many more from complications and poisoning.

Apparently some of the material in New York might have been used to pave roads, parking lots and driveways in public places and even at homes.

The materials are being piled away in gigantic bags into a toxic waste landfill that has been built on a previous landfill that was not permitted for such work. The builders, which include Republic Services, have described this landfill to be much like a gigantic bathtub.

Recently there are allegations that certain documents, contracts and agreements were made with local politicians in the quasi-governmental agency of the Van Buren Charter Township that would allow the company to use the property in any way it saw fit for a period of time that looks like eternity, which is fine for them because they are storing materials with a half-life of billions of years.

Questions not being answered include :

Are there ongoing charges?

How did this material get to be shuffled around across the United States again and again?

What else is being driven around?

One very interesting aspect of all this happens to be this paragraph :

"For more than a decade - beginning around the time the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor - Harshaw served in a supply chain producing feedstock for the production of nuclear weapons."

Who knew they were working on an atomic bomb just at the time the Japanese decided to attack Pearl Harbor?

Finally - before our poem and song -

What are the origins of the radioactive waste from Cuyahoga, Ohio?

Well- the materials in Cuyahoga, Ohio are from the bomb manufacturing that went into the bomb dropped on Hiroshima.

So they are mixing the radioactive nuclear waste from the Nagasaki Bomb with the radioactive nuclear waste from the Hiroshima Bomb.

Besides the fact that the materials represent the remnants of very horrible wartime events, setting aside the symbolism, no one seems to realize that they are mixing Plutonium waste from the Nagasaki Bomb with the Uranium waste from the Hiroshima bomb.

Could it get any worse for this heavily populated area in Michigan?

Rules are meant to be broken

Laws are meant to be bent

That’s the rule taken by a criminal token

You’ll hear when the robber is sent

To make the deal and seal the seal

Concerning matters in question

Whether or not the wounds will heal

From their criminal corrupt suggestion

How is that the further you get

From the ones who’ve committed the sin

You find every thing set

So only one side will win

?

One hundred years ago under a different star

Men and women gathered to commit war

They built up bombers in wheat fields and corn

Manufactured tanks with metal they’d shorn

From mountainside brittle now broken

Exploding them in actions unspoken

How is that the further you get

From the ones who’ve committed the sin

You find every thing set

So only one side will win

To finish the deed

They planted the seed

The enemy might get there faster

So a brilliant mind said Master

Now is the time to manufacture disaster

With hungry children shivering at home

Money was spent to feed the Swiss Gnome

Bombs were created

But hunger was not sated

As the prepared to launch it from air

They knew it wasn’t very fair

How is that the further you get

From the ones who’ve committed the sin

You find every thing set

So only one side will win

They gave each other medals

Patted themselves on their backs

Put others on metal pedestals

Cities they conquered were sacked

Their work was so unclean

They hid it sight unseen

Walking away as if to new day

Pretending what they had done

Had not been

How is that the further you get

From the ones who’ve committed the sin

You find every thing set

So only one side will win

The burning metals they made

They buried under the shade

Creeping then to the Columbia River

They dug it up with a shiver

Fools that they were they shipped it away

To Lewiston, New York by the bay

Poisoning then the Niagara River

For fifty years or more

When they dup up the sore again

Shipped off to who knows where

Who knows when

It showed up in Van Buren Charter Township

Along the banks of the Huron River

Certainly had more arrows in their quiver

Quietly then they laid it down

Next to a sleepy and quiet town

Not unlike the one they blew away

On that fiery and unforgettable day

August nine in nineteen forty five

Quarter million people failed to survive

For what cost they would ask in wonder

As their poisonous explosives began to wander

Slower now than that deadly blast

These materials kill at once and at last

Secret contracts kept on a shelf

People pretend they didn’t do it for self

‘This stuff has to go somewhere’

Said the Fat Man from his stool

‘Who cares if it is fair?’

He’s nobody’s fool

Maybe not but its clear

He is the Devil’s tool
