According to a 2020 report released by the BDSA, the cannabis industry has received more than $270 million in funding commitments by over 1200 investors. Just last year, this industry generated $14.9 billion, an increase of a whopping 45.7 % from 2018. And that’s not all—it is further expected to reach over $40 billion by 2024!
With the US struggling with a staggering number of people suffering from opioid addiction and fatalities due to opioid overdoses, it is not surprising that the call for more medical research, with an increasing number of pain management specialists prescribing cannabis as well as a vast array of other medical applications, demand is increasing at a substantial rate.
In the next four years, recreational adult-use is likely to increase by 5.8%, emerging adult-use by 20.8%, new adult-use by 39 %, mature medical use by 16.7%, emerging medical use by 52.5%, and new medical use is estimated to increase by 50%!
