Hiring Tip: Talk, Don't Toss! Resumes show job changes!

Don't Judge a Book by Its Cover (Resume): Frequent Job Changes do Deserve a Conversation!

A recent post by a LinkedIn influencer advised against calling candidates with frequent job changes. While the resume reflects their history, it doesn't tell the whole story. ? Calling solely to reject them can damage confidence!

I understand the hesitation; frequent moves raise questions. But what if there's more to it? Bad bosses, toxic cultures, limited growth, personal needs, or even better opportunities – all valid reasons for moving on.

Here's why I call:

  • Understanding, not grilling. Frequent changes don't automatically disqualify someone. I want to hear their perspective, the "why" behind the moves.
  • Red flags vs. red herrings. Not all switches are created equal. Some might be consistent bad choices, while others are simply unfortunate circumstances.

A recent example:

One candidate craved short-term wins and jumped ship before challenges arose - a clear red flag.

Another faced closures, cultural misfits, and dared to walk away. A fighter I'd gladly hire!

The takeaway:

Social media grants us a powerful platform, a free publishing platform with easy reach! Let's use it responsibly, fostering informed discussions, not just clickbait. In hiring, delve deeper, and don't let a resume be the only judge.

So?
