Hiring "Mistakes" -- Are They Proof You Are Trying?

We all make mistakes. And we all make hiring "mistakes."

But I am not talking about people, because people are not mistakes.

Hiring mistakes are in the what, where, when, why, and how. They are never about the "who" unless you are counting that "who" as you, the hirer.

Before you hire anyone, you need a thorough plan, from planning to talent development plans. This planning requires finance, marketing, operations, and your own executive leadership development as the one most responsible for the organization's culture.

I know you're sick of me talking about processes, but you absolutely need to have them when you hire. Without a process, we are just doing it our way, which may not work. If it does work, what's the guarantee that it will work next time? Plus, it's not impressive at all when the right candidate can smell it a mile away that you don't have your stuff together. Why would they want to work there/with you?

Wizehire has a great 10-step hiring (talent acquisition) checklist with explanations here: https://wizehire.com/blog/what-is-talent-acquisition

And if you are considering hiring systems, here's an incentive from me to you: https://wizehire.com/ryankauth

What's the most important hiring step of these 10 for you?
