Hiring managers – I’M HERE TO HELP YOU!!

Now lets be honest here guys and gals. The market is candidate heavy and people are applying for anything and everything right now. I am going to assume being in a hiring position, especially if you've recently had this responsibility added to your role, that you are pretty busy at the moment. I'm also going to assume that because the role is live and advertised that the need for that person in the business is quite critical.

OK, question time!

  1. How many people that applied for the role were actually relevant for that position? 
  2. How much time did you spend going through those applications ?
  3. Did you miss any gems whilst wading through the applications that weren’t relevant?
  4. How many email, phone calls and carrier pigeons did you receive about the role? 
  5. Going off topic as this has been an office debate. Do you spell pigeon with or without a d? Okay back on topic …

How good would it be if you could give them an online rating like an Uber driver. If they are obviously wasting your time then let people know.

Yeas Sophie I am the opposite and rule myself out of applying for roles I could probably do hey hi.

Definitely spelt with a D! I think you raise some good points about the amount of applications people make and how difficult it must be to shortlist people when you are dealing with hundreds of applicants as opposed to double digits. I would also argue that Agencies can add value in the EVP side of Recruitment when the market is like this.
