Hire your dream team.
Today I have learned with Kerwin Rae that in the recruitment process, there are three things that we’re looking for.
The first thing is Autonomy.
You’re looking for people that demonstrate or can demonstrate the ability to work independently. You want to provide a level of Autonomy where they can choose to do what they wish to within a relative level of flexibility of when they want to do it. You want to give them a level of flexibility around the task. They can choose the techniques used to do it and with whom they can do it.
The second is Mastery.
Mastery is the pursuit of learning, and what you’re looking for here is people who are not only autonomous, they love to learn. Mastery is also about pain. So when I recruit someone, I’m looking for someone with a proven discipline record. The discipline is to deal with pain, but most importantly, to suffer.
The third is the Purpose.

This is the most crucial area. Talent wants to be part of something bigger than just making Money, and a purpose drives them. Therefore, you want to identify talent caused by something more significant than just a paycheck.
I’ve heard many people say, “I just wanna work for an organization that’s making a difference.”, “I just want to be a part of something doing more than just trying to make money.”

These are the things that you’re listening to in the recruitment process. This is the Holy Grail of talent! This is the Holy Grail of scale.
The path to greatness consists of having a solid and genuine desire, a good purpose, and good company.
"Be not afraid of greatness. Some are born great, some achieve greatness, and others have greatness thrust upon them." - William Shakespeare.
