Remember, if you live in a metropolitan area in the USA and are a project manager or estimator for a drywall subcontractor, with on-screen takeoff experience and projects over $1MM I want you to be part of my network- even if you are not currently looking for a job!!

Construction Trends:

We are seeing a ton of jobs in major metropolitan areas. Now you may not see this activity online but we have contacts in all areas and they are literally calling us daily urging us along to find good candidates locally . Some of these are listed above. There are at least 50 more where that came from.

Most of our people we work for are not looking for a new job, but if something better came along, they would be interested. If you are looking for a new opportunity and you are in the US, make us your first call. We can keep your search 100% confidential - and the search can go on while you are at work.

Interview tips:

Candidates: Never be the one to bring up money. Allow the person from the company to bring up compensation. If asked about what you would require, NEVER give a number. always say " I am willing to look at any fair offer" If the interviewer insists on a number, you can tell them what you are accustomed to making on a base, your average bonus, etc. ALWAYS go back to a focus on the position. Say something like "I am more interested in you company (insert reasons here) than I am about compensation. If you feel I am a good fit, I know you will make me a fair offer based on my position, this location, etc."

Companies: Regarding money: Most people do not make money or compensation a primary reason to change anyway! Obviously, you have a budget and other constraints. Make the focus on the advantages your company offers. Some reasons people look to change include:

  • work/life balance
  • ability to work remote
  • growth/career trajectory
  • location
  • culture
  • compensation- including benefits, perks, PTO policy etc.

Remember: Most candidates do not make money a primary reason for changing. However, you need to be prepared to make it a part of a total package - always, when it comes to an offer you need to come with your best offer first.
