Hippocrates' Nightmare-How Greed Infected U.S. Healthcare
Ladies and gentlemen, gather 'round for the autopsy of the American Dream! Today, we dissect the putrid corpse of what was once optimistically called "healthcare." Brace yourselves, for this cadaver stinks to high heaven!
The Disease: Chronic Profiteering
Behold the bloated, parasitic beast that has gorged itself on the lifeblood of hardworking Americans! See how it glistens with the tears of bankrupt cancer patients, how it undulates with the despair of diabetics rationing insulin!
This monstrosity, my friends, is the result of a cancer so voracious it makes actual tumors look like benign beauty marks. Its name? Profit-Over-People-itis, and it's metastasized to every organ of our body politic.
The Quacks in Charge
And who are the esteemed “physicians” attending this terminal patient? Why, none other than our illustrious elected officials! Watch as they prescribe more of the very poison that's killing us, their pockets bulging with Big Pharma and Lobbyist “carrots”!
I've seen witch doctors with more medical credibility than these charlatans! At least when a shaman's potion fails, you can demand a refund. Try getting your money back from an insurance company, and you'll have better luck squeezing blood from a stone – or compassion from a claims adjuster!
The Circus of Absurdity
Step right up to the greatest show on Earth! Marvel at the amazing disappearing savings account as hospital giants rake in billions! Gasp as a simple aspirin costs more than a vintage Chateau Lafite Rothschild, while in 2021 CommonSpirit Health pockets $5.5 billion, Ascension bags $5.7 billion, and Trinity Health laughs all the way to the bank with $3.9 billion! Thrill to the death-defying feat of choosing between rent and chemotherapy, as these healthcare juggernauts perform their high-wire act of profitability!
In this three-ring circus of medical madness, the executive clowns wear lab coats, the acrobats are patients twisting themselves into pretzels to afford care, and the lion tamers are billing departments, ferociously guarding every penny for their corporate slave masters!

The Walking Dead
Look around you, folks. See your neighbors, your friends, your family, shuffling through life one medical emergency away from financial zombification. The American Dream has flatlined, and we're all on life support!
You there, smugly employed with your fancy insurance! How long before a single ambulance ride turns you into an indentured servant? And you, young invincible, thinking you're safe! Ha! Wait until you slip on a banana peel and find yourself ensnared in the Kafka-esque nightmare of out-of-network charges!
The Prognosis: Terminal Greed
The diagnosis is clear, the prognosis grim. America’s healthcare system is on life support, and the plug is firmly in the hands of those profiting from its dysfunction.
But wait! What's this? A glimmer of hope in this cesspool of despair? The Financial Policy Council (https://financialpolicycouncil.org/) is set to release a healthcare white paper in early September that promises to rip the band-aid off this festering wound we call a healthcare system. It's not just a document, it's a defibrillator for our flatlining medical conscience!
The Financial Policy Council (FPC) stands as a beacon of hope in the murky waters of America's healthcare crisis. As an organization dedicated to wealth creation and financial policy reform, the FPC has turned its analytical eye to the festering wound of our healthcare system. Their upcoming white paper, set for release in early September, promises to be more than just another document – it's a scalpel aimed at dissecting the cancerous growth of profit-driven healthcare.
Why is this white paper so crucial? Because it's not just another rehashing of well-known problems. The FPC brings a unique perspective, combining financial acumen with healthcare policy expertise. This paper is poised to offer concrete, actionable solutions that could revolutionize how we approach healthcare in America. It's not just about identifying the disease; it's about prescribing a cure that doesn't bankrupt the patient. As America teeters on the brink of a healthcare apocalypse, this white paper could be the roadmap to salvation, offering policymakers, activists, and citizens the ammunition they need to fight for a system that prioritizes health over wealth.
The Revolution Starts Now!
Enough is enough! The time for polite discourse and measured debate is over. We need action, and we need it now! Here's what you're going to do:
1.???????? Educate Yourself: Read the FPC's white paper like your life depends on it – because it does! Arm yourself with knowledge. Be more informed about healthcare policy than you are about your favorite sports team's statistics.
2.???????? Raise Hell: Call your representatives. Don't just call – inundate them! Make their phones ring more than a hospital billing department on collection day. Demand accountability, transparency, and actual, honest-to-God affordable healthcare.
3.???????? Spread the Word: Become a town crier for the healthcare revolution! Shout it from the rooftops, preach it in the streets. Make town halls and PTA meetings quake with the force of your righteous anger.
4.???????? Vote Like Your Life Depends On It: Because, newsflash: it does. Scrutinize every candidate's healthcare stance. If they can't explain their plan without resorting to weasel words and empty promises, show them the door.
5.???????? Organize: Form community groups. Create support networks. Build a grassroots movement so powerful it makes Big Pharma quake in their Italian leather shoes.
6.???????? Demand Transparency: Insist on clear, understandable pricing for all medical procedures. If your mechanic can give you an estimate, why can't your doctor?
7.???????? Support Reform Initiatives: Back organizations like the FPC and policies pushing for real, systemic change. Be as relentless in your support as a collection agency after a missed payment.
Remember, in this tragicomedy of errors, you're not just the audience – you're the potential hero. The sword of truth is in your hands. Will you use it to slay the dragon of medical bankruptcy, or will you let it gather dust while you pray you never get sick?
The choice, as they say, is yours. But choose quickly. In the time it took you to read this, another American just went bankrupt trying to stay alive in the "greatest country on Earth."
Wake up, America! The alarm is blaring. Will you answer the call, or hit snooze on your future? The prognosis is grim, but the treatment is clear. Get informed, get angry, and get moving.

7 个月The system sucks! I received better care sixty years ago before the corporate A-holes took over! Nowadays, you have to become a medical professional yourself just to guide yourself on a hospital visit. Doctors handle patients like assembly lines used to build cars. Yet , we way overpay for this wasteful system. It’s a showcase of failure of private enterprise gone wrong.

7 个月I agree with you. The model seems to be make it easy to eat and drink what will make you sick, get you on a prescription, conduct lots of costly testing and eventually that medication will cause more problems, leading to more pills. Rince and repeat. In 2021, the doctor prescribed Lipitor to me for high cholesterol when I was in the boarderline high cholesterol level without even telling me my options. I got a new doctor, lost 15 lbs, made sure the fats were the omega 3 rich fats.
