Hindsight is 2020
Hindsight is 2020…
Many of you remember I moved down from New York City in 2008, and most of that decision stemmed from the exhaustive cost of NYC living. I am not talking about the financial cost of living- I am talking about the tool on body and soul. NYC is one of the few places in the world that inundates your senses with constant media just by walking out your front door.
There is little relief from the noise, smell, and trash. You can retreat to your home, but many places are very small and costly, so you have to work harder for less. I love and appreciate the different life I chose. I have an amazing fiancé (who ensures I eat something other than popcorn), a gorgeous home, and my commute is enviably short.
2020 is a year of constant reflection and adaptation. I want to share a few of the Investment lessons I learned.
From an investment standpoint, 2020 established a good but horrific new benchmark- and we can all sigh just a bit of relief since the turmoil from March passed.
Just nine months ago this year set the new risk benchmark- in my opinion. Stocks and bonds sold more in thirty days than any other time in American History. So if an investor wants to know the ultimate risk in an investment, look no further than the first quarter 2020.
Americas outlook is promising,
2021 is looking more exciting than ever. I truly believe next summer will bring stability in our daily lives as the vaccine continues to roll out.
As far as investing is concerned, Value ideas are becoming more attractive than growth.* This is mainly a reaction to the Vaccine progress and how our Government has a split format at the moment. This will help reduce extreme policies and maintain stability out of Washington.
Over the next several months I will continue to adjust to what I believe should provide more attractive returns. You might initially be surprised by the suggestions- most may seem like a snore at first.
Mark my words! Boring Ideas will be for the cool kids! The popular names will most likely be a bit flat.
I wish each and every one of you a happy holiday. Please call or email if you have any concerns.
That's it,
All my best and love to your family’s
Merry Christmas
Happy Holidays.
Chris
