Pros and Cons

Every situation has positives and negatives. Being stuck at home can feel constricting and yet having to be out of the house by 7:30 am can be stressful. The flip, is that although there is no place like home, getting out and going to work can feel more empowering than doing that same work at home.

So what is better? Like most decisions in life, this is a matter of personal preference.

Do you prefer the stress of coordinating a bunch of details to get somewhere by a set time and then having your own space to perform as an individual? Or would you rather working in the comfort of your home and dealing with whatever distractions and limits come with that?

Do you have the Choice?

Let us take a step back. What if you don't have the choice? Will you only remember the positive of the other option? Will you even be able to relate to complaints?

This year, the world took a spin in a different direction. A huge amount of choices were made for us. Things like how far you can go on a walk and if you can host a party, are just two examples.

I saw a Facebook thread of all the quotes that are now normal, but would not have made any sense in 2019. Things like "Don't forget your mask" and "Zoom schooling is so tough" were mentioned. These were reminders of the situations that were forced upon us and we have to deal with them.

Looking Back

In the moment, it can be hard to keep things in perspective. It is important to take in the situation, monitor our feelings and only then move forward.

However, looking back, it can be easier to reflect on what happened and seal the memory with whichever emotions that you choose. Now we are at the end of 2020, which emotions are you going to pack into your time capsule?
