Him-Haw

"Even in the case of lifeless things that make sounds, such as the pipe or harp, how will anyone know what tune is being played unless there is a distinction in the notes? Again, if the trumpet does not sound a clear call, who will get ready for battle?" - 1 Corinthians 14:7-8.

Purpose can be made more difficult to find because you have been conditioned not to talk about yourself. So you him-haw when asked to describe it, using terms like 'maybe,' 'I think,' 'sort of' and 'kind of.' Today's passage indicates that you need to make a clear sound as to who you are for it to make a difference in your life. There is a big difference "I think my purpose may be, sort of, you know to bring joy where there is despair" and "My purpose is bring joy where there is despair. Do you struggle to talk about yourself? Do you frame your purpose with tentative or bold words? Are you afraid of this kind of clarity for then you are accountable for who you are and what you can do?

Lord, I have thought it was wrong to draw attention to myself by making a clear, strong statement of purpose, but no longer. I want to have a clear, bold statement of who You have made me to be and I will then share that with anyone who will listen, knowing that ultimately the main beneficiary of that clarity is me.
