As a fabulous fifty-something myself, I can assure you that life at this age is an adventure filled with laughter, wisdom, and a touch of quirky charm. So, fasten your seatbelts and join me on this humorous rollercoaster ride through the ups and downs of being a woman in this exciting era. Not to be mistaken for @TaylorSwifts ERA....in case you were wondering.
- Fashion Fiascos: One thing that never fails to amuse me is the fashion trends that come and go. In 2023,it seems like anything goes, but for us fifty-something, finding the right balance between style and comfort can be a challenge. Picture me attempting to navigate the world of low-rise jeans and miniskirts, crop tops, and neon colors. HELLLLOOOOO! I lived through the 90's, been there, done that! Let's just say my efforts often end up with confused glances from by fashionistas and my nineteen year old daughter!
- Technology Tangles: As a woman in her 50's, I'm no stranger to the wonders of technology. However, there are times when it seems like gadgets and gizmos conspire against us. From accidental video calls to mysterious app installations, technology has a way of keeping us on our toes. It's not uncommon to find us staring at one of our smartphones (yep, I have two!), trying to remember what it was we were about to do or how to answer that perplexing message from the family chat....jesus, take the wheel!!!
- The Wisdom Chronicles: Being a fifty-something woman also means we've accumulated a fair amount of wisdom over the years. We've seen trends come and go, and we've experienced enough of life's curveballs to provide sage advice. The only problem is, nobody wants to listen! Our pearls of wisdom often fall on deaf ears, as the younger generation believes they have it all figured out and we "couldn't possibly understand". But hey, we can't help but laugh as they make the same mistakes we once did.
- and...Social Media Silliness: In the world of social media, we find ourselves navigating hashtags, filters and the viral challenges. The digital landscape can be both entertaining and bewildering for women in their 50's. I've watched a youtube video more than once on "how to create a reel". We strive to keep up with the latest viral dance moves, but sometimes our attempts can be described as "dancing like nobody is watching", albeit with a touch of grace. We also struggle with the number of platforms and which ones are relevant and which ones aren't. My daughter will answer a snapchat but heaven forbid she ever checks her text (my preferred communcation style, of course!). It's all in good fun and we'll continue to break the internet, one post at a time....even if it is on FaceBook! #LOL
