WHAT IS HALAL?

Halal is an Arabic word meaning lawful or permitted. In reference to food, it is the dietary standard, as prescribed in the Qur’an (the Muslim scripture). The opposite of halal is haram, which means unlawful or prohibited. Halal and haram are universal terms that apply to all facets of life. These terms are commonly used in relation to food products, meat products, cosmetics, personal care products, pharmaceuticals, food ingredients, and food contact materials.

Halal is a term designating any object or an action which is permissible to use or engage in, according to Islamic law. The term is used to?designate food seen as permissible according to Islamic law.

Clean and healthy nutrition is a human right. Halal food is a part of freedom of belief. Halal certification include not only the food, but also cosmetics, service centers, renewable energy, tourism, agriculture and transportation etc. Services and activities are included. The work of?Halal certification Qatar?made it necessary to accreditation and standardization. Halal certification and standardization work has started on the World.

General Guidelines on Halal Food Standard, with another two guides are generated. This standard includes criteria for halal food and the rules of procedures to be followed in an Islamic perspective. This type of standardization comparable to the experience of codification of Islamic law into the last century and a half.

HALAL CERTIFICATION

Halal Certificate is a document issued by the competent Islamic bodies in the country of origin or the exporting country, indicating that meat or meat products or other related food have been processed and produced in accordance with the requirements of Sharia, or that the products or their components are halal, and that all conditions, materials and tools of preparation are in conformity with the requirements of Sharia and relevant stipulations.

The?Halal certificate guarantees that products and services aimed at the Muslim population meet the requirements of Islamic law and therefore are suitable for consumption in both Muslim-majority countries and in Western countries where there are significant population group who practice Islam.

Halal certification is a process?which ensures the features and quality of the products according to the rules established by the Islamic Council that allow the use of the mark Halal. It is mainly applied to meat products and other food products such as milk, canned food and additives. Specifically, for?meat products Halal certifies?that the animals were slaughtered in a single cut, thoroughly bled, and their meat have not been in contact with animals slaughtered otherwise and, especially, with pork.

Products that are Halal certified are often marked with a Halal symbol. The halal food and beverage industry has also made a significant impact on Supermarkets and other food business such as restaurants. French supermarkets had halal food sales, the market for halal foods is even larger than the market for other types of common foods.

Halal Certification Process

In order to complete the Halal Certification process, companies must complete a three-step process with an advisory group.?This process includes;

  • Evaluation?-- explanation of company and the need for receiving Halal Certification
  • Inspection?-- onsite inspection of plant and process
  • Certification -- once the evaluation and inspection are complete, if passed, the organization will be granted certification.
