Hike, Run & Have Fun with Your Dog This Spring!
It’s that time of year when we finally come out of hibernation, open up our windows and spend more time outside with pets. Since the days are longer and the weather is nicer, this is a great time to take advantage of all the outdoor activities and exercises.
Dog need and crave exercise, which is why they make the perfect workout companions. Whether you enjoy jogging with your energetic pup, hiking with your adventurous canine, or cruising the neighborhood streets with your senior; it’s important to keep these exercise tips in mind so that you can both stay safe and have fun!
Don’t move so fast…
Daily exercise is always recommended for pets, but if your dog has been more sedentary during the winter months, then you’ll want to have a pre-exercise plan. Similar to how an athlete starts prepping for a new season after taking a few months off, your dog will need this type of transition to ease them back into their regular routine. By doing this, you will avoid potential problems like muscle fatigue or strain, injured pads, exhaustion, etc. It’s best to start slow and gradually increase exercise time and degree of difficulty.
Get Checked…
If you haven’t done so already, an annual health exam is the perfect way to ensure your pet is in optimum health to enjoy warmer weather. This is especially true for older dogs. Your vet will be able to determine if your pet is overweight or has a medical condition that might reduce exercise activities. They will also be able to recommend treatments so that your dog is fully ready to conquer the outdoors.
Tag, you’re it…
As you begin to spend more time outdoors, there is also more opportunities for pets to make a break for freedom. Now is a good time to check your pet’s ID tags to ensure that they are legible and contain all your current contact information. If your pet is microchipped, call the microchip company to make sure they have your most current contact information on file.
The weather…
Make it a habit to check the weather before you head outdoors with Fido. On those extra hot days, keep in mind that your dog’s furry coat makes them much hotter. If it’s too hot, your pet could suffer from health complications or get injured.
Feel it in our bones…
As we get older we start to “feel it in our joints” overtime, and this holds true for our dogs too. Joint pain can affect dogs of all ages, especially seniors. According to some estimates, one in five dogs (20%) experience joint issues in their lifetimes, resulting in pain and possible mobility challenges. Adding a supplement to your dog’s diet can be an effective way to minimize their pain and discomfort.
InClover Research? has created Connectin?, the only joint supplement clinically proven by independent researchers to help support both dog and cat comfort and mobility in an average of 15 days. Connectin's patented formula nourishes the joint and its surrounding structures to support stiff, aging bodies, or help protect young & healthy joints. Giving Connectin as a part of your dog’s daily regime supplies all three essential joint building blocks that are critical for healthy joint function.
The InClover scientific team also added a power-packed herbal blend as the chosen ingredients have been proven to deliver noticeable, lasting results for your dog so they can kick-off the spring workout season the “feel good” way! Connectin? is available in a powder form, soft chews, or crunchy tablets. https://inclover.com/product/canine-connectin/
Stock up on exercise must-haves…
Whether you and your dog are hitting the trails for a longer adventure, or going for your daily run, bringing water for the journey to stay hydrated is a smart idea. There are many portable water bowls available that are convenient to carry. Try on leashes, collars and/or harnesses to confirm that they are in good condition and comfortable for them. Before venturing out in the wild, make sure your dog is up-to-date on their flea and tick preventatives since these pesky critters are rampant this time of year!
