WHAT IS THE CHALLENGE?

HIKE FOR FREEDOM over 300km in distance with 18,600m of elevation in 4 days!

We are doing our hardest challenge - something way beyond anything we have ever tried - HIKE FOR FREEDOM to STOP human & animal ABUSE by cover a distance of 300km with 18,600m of elevation to help rescue trafficked humans and abandoned animals - neither of which should be happening in this day and age!! This is the equivalent of climbing Everest, Kilimanjaro & The Eiger in just 4 days!!

WHO ARE WE?

Jo Lodder & Catherine Cormack - we are two slightly mad neighbours with a passion for hiking who want change!! - we believe people shouldn't be slaves & animals shouldn't be abandoned - I think everyone would agree on this - we are just 2 average Joe's (pardon the pun) pushing ourselves to achieve the unachievable, which is nothing in compared to what these people & animals have to go through in their lives.

STOP trafficking of people & TAILS Lantau are 2 incredible hands-on charities that we are passionate about supporting and have seen personally what amazing work they do in helping the abused!

HIKE FOR FREEDOM - Date: 25th - 28th March

Our aim is to raise as much awareness as possible for the two charities. There are a number of ways you can help if you like:

1. Share wherever you can whether through social media or directly passing the link on to family & friends - its easy there is a button you can click called "share this campaign" - you can even download and print a flyer if you have somewhere to put these!!

2. Please endorse our challenge and campaign - again there is another button on this page to do this - the more endorsements we get the better & share on Facebook!

3. Donate - PLEASE PLEASE DONATE if you have some spare change we would really appreciate your support - we are aiming to reach 100,000$HKD which we will split between these 2 amazing charities.

STOP trafficking of people - Human Trafficking is a form of modern day slavery.

It involves the recruitment, transportation or receipt of a person by means of force, fraud or coercion for the purpose of exploitation, including forced labour and commercial sex acts.

Our goals are to raise awareness about trafficking, connect with key counter-trafficking groups, provide victims with support, allow their voices to be heard, and to serve as a catalyst for positive change in the fight against modern-day slavery!

Stop Trafficking of People (STOP.) is an initiative of Branches of Hope.

Charity 2 - TAILS Lantau - Helping dogs & cats find forever homes - www.tailslantau.org

TAILS - Our vision is to create a world in which animal welfare is the norm, not the exception.

We believe in the five freedoms of animal welfare – the freedom from hunger and thirst, from discomfort, from preventable pain, injury, or disease, from fear and distress, and to express normal behaviour.

We work toward our vision by:

1. Providing medical attention, safe shelter, and nurture and care to animals in need, including those who are stray, injured, abused, neglected, surrendered, abandoned, or otherwise in need.

2. Rehoming animals in loving forever families

3. De-sexing (spay/neuter) of dogs and cats to avoid needless suffering of unwanted puppies and kittens

4. Offering accessible education on responsible pet ownership and animal handling

My name is Jo Lodder and I am Managing Partner of JNW Properties in Hong Kong. We market and sell our own developments in Niseko which include SnowDog Village, SnowDog Chalets and the famous Raku Ichi Residences. I have a passion for exploring, and especially like to hike the mountains of Niseko in the summer, where I also love to ski in the winter, famed for its fluffy champagne snow. White days in February, so cold, but that amazing powder that's JAPOW!!
