Hijacking History and the Disturbing Inversion of October 7th

As we approach the anniversary of October 7th, a new lie is spreading from within the pro-Palestinian / anti-Israel camp.

This should come as no surprise. For the past year the world has been subjected to hundreds of hate marches worldwide, thugs masquerading as people who care for peace but in reality want only one thing - the destruction of the world’s only Jewish state. The claim to ‘care for Palestinians’ is a lie.

Students on UK and US university campuses have been intimidated and shamed for being pro-Israel, shouted and cursed at for being a ‘dirty zionist’. Forbidden to attend classes or cross campus by those who claim to hold some authority just because they bought a $3 yellow vest on Amazon.

A surge in antisemitism has taken place across the world, coincidentally at the same time as a mass wave of ‘anti-zionism’ has gripped hundreds of thousands of people worldwide. Of course, these people will say they are not antisemitic, just anti-zionist. But make no mistake, anti-zionism is merely today’s form of antisemitism. For when 95% of Jews are zionists, you can't separate the two. The claim to be ‘not antisemitic’ is a lie.

We’ve heard accusations of ‘genocide!’ egregiously inserted into almost every anti-Israel statement or slogan. An accusation so preposterous that even those who use it know full well how false it is, and yet also know that by repeating such absurdities they belittle the meaning and gravity of the word. A word, like ‘holocaust’, so laden in history, specifically in Jewish history, that by attaching it to the Palestinian cause they think they can wipe out the justness of Israel’s cause and existence.?

Why is it such an absurd claim? Well, the numbers speak for themselves - numbers provided by Hamas, a proscribed murderous terror organisation that is, so not exactly the most reliable, but let’s humour them anyway.?

35,000 killed, at least half of which are Hamas terrorists. Such a number, out of 2.3 million people in a highly densely populated area, who are told to evacuate the area before an attack takes place and are ushered to safe zones, can hardly be considered a genocide. Not to mention Hamas’s use of their own civilian population as human shields (see NATO’s report on this strategy since 2007), knowing full well that every death is a PR point for them.?

On top of all this, the Palestinian population in the last 70 years has grown, and is projected to continue growing. To compare this to the murder of millions of Jews during the Holocaust, which saw the decamation of European Jewry by 66%, is outrageous and an insult to those who suffered and died during that time. The claim of ‘genocide’ is a lie.

As the war progresses, Israel continues to be painted as the aggressor by so many in the mainstream media and those so-called peaceful protestors. But let’s not forget how the fighting started - by a completely unprovoked attack by the terrorist group, Hamas, ripping through a sovereign border and massacring over 1200 people (and would have continued to do so if not stopped) and taking 250 hostage - 101 of who are still being held in horrific conditions. So, if you’re looking for the (attempted) ‘genocide’ in this conflict then you’ll find it right there on October 7th, 2023.

What followed the day after was attacks from the full range of Iran’s proxies - Hezbollah in Lebanon sending hundreds and thousands of rockets relentlessly, every day, for the past year, the Houthis in Yemen sending missle-loaded drones, terrorist groups in the West Bank, Iraq, Syria, and even Iran itself, sending 180 ballistic missiles just last night.

What Israel has done in Gaza and the West Bank against Hamas, PFLP, PIJ, and other Palestinian terror groups, has done in Yemen, and is now doing in Lebanon against Hezbollah is a response to these attacks; to return peace to its borders, allow the 70,000 people (the equivalent of 2.3m US residents) displaced for the past year to return to their homes, schools, and livelihoods, and ensure such atrocities can never happen again.?

Yes, that means fighting back. That means bombing mass terror infrastructure such as 300+ kilometres of underground tunnels to smithereens. That means that lots of buildings and infrastructure will be destroyed. That means there will be some ugly images on your television screen. War is ugly. But it isn’t a war that Israel wanted, it is a war created by proscribed terror organisations. The claim of ‘Israel is the aggressor’ is a lie.

So, what is the new lie emerging??

It is simply a variation of Holocaust inversion, a common theme that runs between the lies the anti-Israel camp spins up (the portrayal of Israel, Israelis, and Jews as Nazis, that the victims have become the perpetrators and do to the Palestinians what was once done to them, a major distortion of history). It is the latest form of the hijacking-of-history strategy, employed to undermine and twist the narrative to cast the Palestinians as the victim. This time though, it will be attached to the date of October 7th itself. A day that was without a doubt the darkest day in Israel’s history. A day which saw the worst attack on Jews since the Holocaust. And yet, the anti-Israel camp once again aims to hijack this day and claim it as the day when the Palestinian people came under attack. A claim that couldn’t be further from the truth. The claim that ‘October 7th was an assault against Palestinians’ is a lie.

And yet, the anti-Israel rallies are already being organised. Specifically for October 7th, 2024. It’s like organising a rally for Al-Qaiida on the anniversary of 9/11.?

It’s a despicable and grotesque inversion of the Oct 7th massacre against Israelis.?

Here’s the truth.

October 7th, 2023 was a day which saw thousands of Hamas terrorists, unprovoked, break through the border, armed to the teeth in order to rape, mutilate, torture, burn alive and slaughter, over 1200 innocent men, women, and children in their own homes and at a music festival of love and peace. A day which they recorded and live-streamed, proud of their bloodthirst and called home to tell their parents of how many Jews they’d murdered. And if that wasn’t enough, they took 251 of them hostage, 101 of whom are still in Gaza, being subjected to inhumane conditions, deep underground or housed by local Palestinian people, tormented and sexually assaulted on a daily basis.?

As we approach the one year anniversary of this barbaric atrocity, let us remember those who perished on that day, may their memory be a blessing.

Let’s remember the 101 hostages still held captive in Gaza and their families and loved ones who are forced to live a nightmare, may they return home safe, and now.

Let’s remember the 700 IDF soldiers killed in action, and the families they leave behind, who have died defending their homes and their children’s futures.?

Let’s remember the 70,000 displaced who have seen their homes and livelihoods destroyed.

May Israel rid the world of such barbaric terrorist organisations that have no desire for peace or stability, and may the result of these actions lead to a brighter future for all those in the region.
