Making the world's justice problems personal | Law, Justice & Tech
The Lagos Regional Finals is set to hold on the 14th of November by 3:30 pm.
Ever wondered how tech can be leveraged to promote access to justice? Well, now you have a chance to find out.
The Lagos Regional Finals is one of four events taking place across Africa to scout the next generation of promising justice innovators who are working to prevent or resolve citizens’ most pressing justice needs. Our focus for this year in Nigeria is on “money” related justice problems. Here, justice innovators and entrepreneurs will pitch their work to an international jury of experts. The very best will be selected for a place in our Justice Accelerator program where they can receive up to 20 000 Euros in grant funding, potential third party investment, tailored training and business development support, access to HiiL’s international network of experts and global exposure.
The Regional Finals is the best opportunity to exhibit justice innovations and startups in West Africa. Meet the key players, judge the competition and network with investors, government officials and civil society. It is a global movement driven by a community of justice innovators condensed into one event. Join it!
Some of the finalists for the Regional Finals include:
Africlaim : Passengers suffer emotionally, financially, socially and physically when their flights are delayed or canceled without notice. Africlaim specializes in securing financial and non-financial compensation for African airline passengers involved in flight disruptions including cancellations, delays, and overbooking.
Appruve : Many Africans have no valid means of identification and as a result, are excluded from many services and benefits including financial services. Appruve is a financial identity infrastructure that enables financial services to verify and onboard the identities of individuals and businesses
The Flemer Project Initiative : To facilitate the decongestion of Nigerian prisons, The Flemer Project Initiative uses an incentive-based volunteer system enabled by technology, to provide active legal representation for indigent pre-trial detainees.
