Here are the highlights of the events that happened in January 2023:
- The first G20 energy transition working group meeting was held in Bengaluru from February 5–7, 2023, with participation from nine nations and organizations such as UNDP, ICA, and RD20. On February 2–4, the G20 countries, which account for 85% of global GDP and 3/4 of global trade, had their first employment working group meeting.
- The international financial architecture working group met in Chandigarh from January 30-31, 2023.
- Khadi Fest-23 will be held in Mumbai through February 24th, 2023.
- Khadi Fest: Every year, the Khadi and Village Industries Commission organizes the Khadi Fest to commemorate the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, the Father of the Country. Nonetheless, the exhibition was staged after a two-year hiatus this time.
- Rajnath Singh, the defense minister, and Ravindra Pradhan helped 25 Veer Gatha winners receive $10,000 in cash, a medal, and a certificate.
- Veer Gatha: Gallantry awards are announced twice a year to honor the deeds of courage and sacrifice of officers/personnel of the Military Forces, other lawfully organized forces, and citizens, first on the occasion of Republic Day and secondly on the occasion of Independence Day. The Ministry of Defence has advised that school students be pushed to perform projects/activities for the bravery medal recipients in order to share the specifics of heroic deeds and the life stories of these brave hearts among students.
- PM Modi designated the 21 Andaman Islands as Param Veer Chakra winners on Subhash Chandra Bose's birth anniversary, January 23, 2023. Major Somnath Sharma, Subedar and Hony Captain (then Lance Naik) Karam Singh, 2nd Lt Rama Raghoba Rane, Nayak Jadunath Singh, Company Havildar Major Piru Singh, Capt G S Salaria, Lt Col (then Major) Dhan Singh Thapa, Subedar Joginder Singh, Major Shaitan Singh, CQMH Abdul Hamid, Lt Col Ardeshir.
- The Param Vir Chakra (PVC) is India's highest military decoration, bestowed for exceptional deeds of courage during the conflict. The award for "most conspicuous courage in the presence of the enemy" is known as the Param Vir Chakra.
- Droupadi Murmu, President of India, has authorized 412 Gallantry awards and various Defense decorations for Military Services members and others. There are six Kirti Chakras, four of which are posthumous, and 15 Shaurya Chakras, two of which are posthumous. One Bar to Sena Medal (Gallantry), 92 Sena Medals, four of which were posthumous, one Nao Sena Medal (Gallantry), seven Vayu Sena Medals (Gallantry), and 29 Param Vishisht Seva Medals are among them.
- The next General Manager of Indian Railways has been named Naresh Lalwani. He is a senior officer from the 1985 batch of the Indian Railway Engineering Service. He was Senior Deputy General Manager and Chief Vigilance Officer of the Western Railway before becoming General Manager of the Central Railway. He succeeded Ashok Kumar Misra, General Manager of Western Railway, who was also in charge of the Central Railway.
- The 14th edition of Aero India 2023 will be held in Bengaluru from February 13 to February 17. Aero India is a biannual air show and aviation expo hosted at the Yelahanka Air Force Station in Bengaluru, India. It is organized by the Ministry of Defence's Defence Exhibition Organization. Aero India is Asia's largest aviation show. "The Runway to a Billion Opportunities" is the theme of Aero India 2023.
- The Indian Navy's greatest exercise, Tropes 2023, is now occurring in the Indian Ocean region from January 2023 to March 23, 2023.
- Tropex: Theatre Level Operational Readiness Exercise (TROPEX) is an inter-service military exercise in which the Indian Army, Air Force, Navy, and Coast Guard participate. The practice usually begins at the start of each year and lasts a month. It is often carried out in three stages: solo workup, collaborative workup, and tactical.
