My colleague and I took a trip to Haverhill, Massachusetts last Thursday, May 5 to watch the “In-Person Spring Inventor Product Pitch” at the Innovation Hub (IHub) connected with UMass Lowell.
We were welcomed warmly by Invent New England President George Peters and Executive Director Lexa Gandolfo, and treated to a full agenda. Here are my highlights from the product pitches:
FLKR LYTR: The combination fidget-spinner and lighter. (Yes – I thought this was stupid, too, until I realized they were billing them as promotional items dispensaries could give way with their logo on it. Then they made total sense.)
R-Yolo: All-natural washable yoga mat – which was added to the gift bags for the Oscars!
You-V: Sunscreen that fluoresces under black light so you can tell if you missed a spot.
Spinning billboard that is propelled by the wind.
J-pick: A J-shaped toothpick to make it easy to get behind your teeth.
Standing guitar case (so you don’t have to lay the case down and use a separate stand – the case serves as the stand).
Plastic guides to use to cut cakes and other circular foods in equal pieces of odd numbers, like 5 and 7.
Nanobots to drill through pathogens in vivo (by the youngest and most enthusiastic presenter, who was only in 3rd grade!).
