Highlights of Computex 2024: The Fusion of Innovative Technology and AI

As the tech industry continues to evolve, Computex2024 has become a premier platform for global tech companies to showcase their latest technologies and products. This event brought together numerous leading tech companies, each presenting impressive innovations.

Intel's AI PC Era

In his keynote speech, Intel CEO Pat Gelsinger highlighted Intel's ambitions in the AI field. The Lunar Lake processor, Intel's flagship product for the next generation of AI PCs, is set to begin shipping in Q3. It is signaling the full arrival of the AI PC era. Additionally, the introduction of the Gaudi 3 AI accelerator chip and the Intel Xeon 6 data center processor further solidified Intel's leadership in the high-performance computing market.


AMD's Comprehensive Layout

During the 2024 Computex keynote, AMD CEO Dr. Lisa Su unveiled the progress of five new chips, emphasizing AI integration and optimization across various markets.

  • Ryzen 9000 Series ("Granite Ridge"): The world's fastest consumer PC processor, based on the Zen 5 architecture. The Ryzen 9 9950X is the top choice for gamers and creators, with products launching in July.
  • RyzenAI Laptop Processor ("Strix Point"): The third-generation RyzenAI laptop processor is claimed to be the world's best Copilot+PC processor, with an NPU capable of 50 TOPS.
  • MI325X and Future AI Accelerator Chips: The MI325X, featuring HBM3E high-bandwidth memory, will launch in Q4. The MI350 series, using a 3nm process, will debut next year with the largest AI efficiency increase in AMD's history, followed by the MI400 series in 2026.
  • 5th Generation EPYC Processor ("Turin"): Promoted as the world's best data center CPU, set for release in the second half of the year.
  • 2nd Generation Versal AI Edge Series: A product designed specifically for edge AI applications.


NVIDIA's AI Servers and Future Plans

On June 2nd, NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang's keynote at the Taipei Arena covered several key points:

  • Showcasing the Latest GB200 NVL72 AI Server: Manufactured by Foxconn, this is the world's fastest AI server. NVIDIA also announced that the latest DGX GB200 super AI server will be mass-produced in the second half of the year, with GB200 series products shipping in server rack form.
  • Annual Product Development Plan: Huang revealed plans to launch the new Blackwell Ultra chip next year and the next-generation AI platform Rubin in 2026, which will utilize the new HBM4 high-bandwidth memory.


Innovations and Collaborations in Server Manufacturing

Supermicro and Wiwynn, among other server manufacturers, showcased their innovative products and collaborations at the event. Supermicro will partner with ASE Semiconductor to build Taiwan's first data center using next-generation water cooling technology in Kaohsiung. Their Malaysia factory is expected to be operational in Q4, with a monthly capacity of 5,000 units. Wiwynn demonstrated the NVIDIA GB200 NVL72 rack-mounted AI solution, highlighting their efforts in technological innovation and market expansion.

Additionally, companies such as Quanta Cloud Technology (QCT), Ingrasys, and Tyan also showcased their server products at the COMPUTEX.

  • QCT (Quanta Cloud Technology): Displayed the QCT QuantaGrid server using AMD EPYC processors and NVIDIA Grace Blackwell Superchips, along with the QCT AI integrated solution featuring AMD Instinct MI300 series accelerators and the NVIDIA cabinet equipped with NVLink-C2C.
  • Ingrasys (Foxconn subsidiary): Showcased a variety of 1U/2U/4U MGX server products with AMD EPYC and Intel Xeon processors. These servers, featuring NVIDIA H200, B100, or B200 AI accelerators, offer modular architecture compatible with air or liquid cooling systems and support the AMD Instinct MI300X platform or Intel Gaudi 3 accelerators.

New Developments from Laptop Brands

Laptop brands like Acer, ASUS, BenQ, and MSI also unveiled their AI PC products at Computex. ASUS and Acer launched their first AI laptops featuring Qualcomm Snapdragon X series chips and integrated Microsoft Windows 11, marking new trends in the laptop market's AI capabilities.

Computex 2024 was not only a technological feast but also a showcase of the integration of AI technology and innovative products. From Intel's AI PC processors to AMD's comprehensive AI layout, NVIDIA's AI servers and plans, and the innovative products from server manufacturers and laptop brands, Computex 2024 provided new insights and directions for the tech industry.
