Up to the third quarter of 2024, the mergers and acquisitions (M&A) market in Spain has reached a total of 2,319 transactions, between announced and closed, worth EUR 74,677 million, according to TTR Data's latest report. Although the number of transactions has decreased slightly by 0.04% compared to the same period in 2023, the aggregate value of these transactions has seen a significant increase of 27%, demonstrating a clear increase in the magnitude of the deals.

Most dynamic sectors
?The Real Estate sector remains the most active, with 449 transactions, although it has experienced a slight drop of 4% compared to last year. On the other hand, the Internet, Software and IT Services sector recorded 223 transactions, representing a drop of 13%. However, the big growth was seen in the Tourism, Hospitality & Leisure sector, with 166 transactions and an impressive 80% increase, underlining the recovery of tourism after the pandemic years.
?In the legal field, several firms have reinforced their teams in view of the increase in transactional activity. Among the most notable moves are the incorporation of Ana Mu?oz at PwC as head of Corporate Governance, and the arrival of Toni de Weest Prat at KPMG Abogados as the new partner for the tax area in Catalu?a. Also noteworthy is the acquisition of the Espai Gironès shopping center by Lighthouse Capital for EUR 168.2 million, and the purchase of the Stericycle business in Spain and Portugal by Urbaser.
