WOW! it's the beginning of December, almost the end of the year already! You see it everywhere, the workload increases, your mother already claimed your presence on Boxing day, and outside the daylight hours are diminishing... however, they're filled with good cheer!
That’s why this is a good time to reassess the year. How have we performed? I did a quick review with some colleagues already...
Most of all, we’re a proud bunch of Campus people. No wonder when you know that right this week we will pass the magic numbers of 150 companies and 10,000 employees all together. With every new company, we will improve the opportunities for all of them. All based on our magic potion: the great mix of people and because of that the almost accidental meetings we have over coffee, lunch or afternoon drinks, which lead to new research and business opportunities every single day.
2016.... We all cherish the series of visits by some of the world’s most famous people. Angela Merkel, Mark Rutte, the Belgian King and Queen, to name just a few of them. They all were so anxious to see what’s happening at High Tech Campus Eindhoven, that they just had to fit us in their tight schedules. We were happy to show them our top stories.
2016 was also the year in which we saw HighTechXL Plaza (in HTC12) fill itself up with promising startups looking for ways to scale their business. You’re welcome by the way, every first Wednesday of the month, for the Demos & Drinks. You’ll find a diverse group made up of founders of the latest and greatest Eindhoven startups as well as heavy hitters of established companies and investors.
We realised the “soft landing concept” but also made huge steps in sustainability, the IT network, our supplier strategy, and the parking facilities.
We never had as much media attention as in 2016, maybe also because of the growing number of initiatives with organisations outside of the Campus. The Startup Alliance for example, helping to make HighTechXL the best place to accelerate your hardware startup. Or the TU/e alumni network, the very popular Open Lecture and of course, all the events and congresses that took place in our Conference Center.
And indeed, none of us will ever forget the sight of the herd of sheep on the Campus meadows; speaking of high tech grass mowing!
And much more is yet to come, we look forward to 2017 already. With companies like Shimano as our new Campus colleagues, many other famous people who come visit us (like the mayor of Taipei in May), and the further development of our brand new Smart Industry Hub. But most of all because of all the efforts of the 150+ companies and its 10,000+ highly talented people that help make Eindhoven the High Tech Capital of the world!
Many thanks to all of you and oh, before I forget: please feel welcome at our annual High tech Piek Awards on December 21, for #hutspot and lots of awards! Register HERE
