High-Quality, Accessible Training Conference Hosted by MK Community Foundation

At MK Community Foundation , we give out grant funding to Milton Keynes charities and community groups across the city. From your local football club or a local arts group, through to The Stables MK and MK Gallery , we fund a wealth of different sized organisations.

As well as offering funding to groups throughout the city, we also offer expert support to groups in ensuring that they are as robust and sustainable as possible. This is where my role as Capacity Building Manager comes in.?

We want to upskill charities and community groups in certain areas, such as Fundraising, to enable them to continue to flourish, well after they receive funding from us.

About the Voluntary Sector Conference

As a Foundation, we are committed to supporting the charities and community groups of Milton Keynes.

We recognise that over the last couple of years, there have been serious implications for the Voluntary, Community, and Cultural Sectors of the city.

This has resulted in many groups having to ‘just get by’ and survive on limited funds within an extremely uncertain environment.?

Last year, we sent out a survey to charities and community groups to identify their training needs and where we needed to focus most in terms of upskilling the voluntary sector.

Voluntary Sector Survey [2022]

"One of our biggest findings was that although there was a huge demand and need for training,?budgets have been hugely chopped due to the #CostofLivingCrisis."
Michaela Clark , Capacity Building Manager

At MKCF, therefore, we decided to offer a Voluntary Sector Conference at a reduced rate to community groups and charities in Milton Keynes.

We hope that this will enable groups to attend the conference, that will offer a number of different workshops, run by industry experts.

Workshops at the Voluntary Sector Conference

There's a lot of different workshops on offer throughout the day, run by experts in their field.?

We have a Fundraising workshop, which explores ‘How to Make the Ask’.

This will be run by Sofeena Lalani, who has previously worked with the #RedCross & #Oxfam.?

We also have a ‘Creating a Good Partnership’ workshop, run by Citizens:mk , and a ‘Staff and Wellbeing’ workshop facilitated by Mind BLMK (Bedfordshire, Luton and Milton Keynes) .?
