High performance resins: Advanced solutions for industrial flooring

Once again this month I am taking you into the heart of our most interesting projects, sharing with you the advanced techniques and solutions that allow us to achieve outstanding results.??

For this job, we were asked by a leading multinational manufacturer of automotive hardware to adapt the resin flooring in one of their factories in Italy.?

The requirement was clear: a floor that would guarantee high performance, with resistance to heavy traffic and protection against occasional contamination from oils and solvents.??

Initial investigations revealed that the substrate was impregnated with production oil, a potential obstacle to the adhesion of the new coating.???

?? Our product range includes One Primer, a two-component, high specific gravity epoxy adhesion promoter, ideal for contaminated substrates. The chemical action of One Primer inhibits the release of contaminants, making it perfect for this project.??

After a technical meeting with the customer, a five-step working cycle was defined:??

1. Substrate preparation, careful grinding of the existing pavement and demolition of loose parts. ? ?
2. Priming, application of One Primer, which allows only the first 2mm of the surface to be removed (instead of the usual 2-3cm), optimising time and cost.? ?
3. Application of Winkler Unibar Screed, an epoxy mortar reinforced with polypropylene fibres, ideal for new screeds and repairs. ? ?
4. Double skimming, use Winkler Unibar Formula, a two-component, multi-purpose, consolidating and waterproofing resin, suitable for heavy traffic areas. ? ?
5. Protective finish, a final coat of Winkler Unibar G, a non-slip and water-resistant resin that guarantees a durable and safe finish, even in the presence of oils.??

The first batch of approximately 190 m2 was completed in a few days, allowing production to resume on monday morning. The entire cycle was carried out in accordance with environmental regulations, with all waste materials properly disposed of.???

The choice of VOC-free resins and the use of closed-loop machinery to ensure the immediate extraction of dust allowed the work to be carried out without disrupting the company's normal operations.??

Thanks to the quality of the result, the client has entrusted us with further areas to be treated.??
