The High Cost of Not Having Your Team Operating at Their Potential

As team leaders, it's our job to make sure our teams operate at their full potential. But what happens when they're not? The opportunity cost is high—not just in terms of lost production, but also in terms of the team's morale and our own stress levels. Here's a look at the high cost of not having our teams operate at their potential.
The Cost of Lost Production
When your team isn't operating at its full potential, it results in lost production. This can be costly in terms of both time and money. If you have a team of 10 people and each person is only working at 80% of their potential, how many deals is that in your market?
You and I know our money is made on the margins and losing 20% off the top is a massive, even if hidden, hit.
What would your agents' lives be like with those extra deals in their pockets? What would your life be like? How many more agents would be interested in your team if your team was running at 100% (and always growing)?
The Cost of Low Morale
Another cost of not having your team operating at its potential is low morale.
When people feel like they're not performing up to par, it can lead to feelings of inadequacy and frustration. This can result in reduced motivation and engagement, which can further impact productivity.
Moreover, low morale can lead to turnover as disgruntled agents start looking for new opportunities elsewhere.?
And how often do ineffective agents start to gossip and take down potentially great agents with them? I've found this to be one of the biggest hidden costs.
The Cost Of Stress On You?
Finally, there's the cost of stress on you.
When your team isn't performing as well as they could be, it reflects poorly on you as the leader. The loss of revenue coupled with the increased expenses that come with each extra agent can lead to increased stress levels and anxiety, which can impact your satisfaction, peace of mind, and overall performance.
In severe cases, it can even lead to burnout and questioning why you even started a team.
I've found the cost of not having our team operating at its full potential to be rediculously high. It's that way both in terms of both lost production and low morale.
As a team leader, I take it as job one to get my team everything they need to reach its full potential. Otherwise, in the end, I'm the one paying the price on multiple fronts!
If you're a real estate team leader or broker-owner looking to train your team faster and with better results, you might want to join me for a live Q&A on what I call the Three Points of Leverage.
After training thousands of people over the last 27 years, and interviewing over 50 successful team leaders, I've discovered there is a common approach all winning teams share.
This approach has helped our team, as well as agents on other teams, to produce, profit, and prosper. Using this methodology teams expand organically - making them more profitable with less struggle.
I'd love to share with you what I've found works and hear from you what you've discovered (and what you're struggling with).
