No, we're not going there. Not that "high." I'm talking about screenplay writing. There is a notion called "high concept" movies.
High Concept: An intriguing idea that can be told in a few words and gets everyone really, really, really excited.
High concept ideas often start with "What if..."
Recognize the movie? What ifs...
What if you got stuck living a day over and over again? What if your life was actually a reality show on an island, filled with actors? What if you didn't realize you were dead?
What if learning concepts
What if you used high concept 'what ifs' to brainstorm ideas for learning projects?
- State your business/performance goal for the problem. (Not a training goal!)
- Go wild! Go for quantity, not quality. Set aside 10 minutes for what ifs. Don't stop! Just write as many what ifs as you can. It doesn't matter if they make sense. Write ton of postit notes with what ifs about approaching the problem.
You'll notice that after a minute or two, your logical whatifs are exhausted.
3. Keep going. That's where the magic happens. You creative part of the brain joins the party. Do not question or filter anything, just write. In ten minutes, try to get about 30-50 what ifs.
4. After ten minutes, read them.
5. Group them (if they are similar).
6. Select your top 3 groups.
7. Answer them. What if...
