The Hidden Traps of Personality Tests

Interesting story about personality types. ??

There are many different personality tests out there. Myers Briggs is one of the more popular ones you can take - because it's super easy to understand. ???

Basically, you have 16 personality types and they all have a name made out of 4 letter variations. ??

Mine is INTJ. ??

The first I means introversion. ??

If you are more extroverted, your first letter will be E. ???

Now here is where the problem appears. ??

Recently I joined some Facebook groups for INTJ personalities. I felt like I was joining a group of like-minded people. ??

But that wasn't the case. ??

For context, people who are regarded as INTJ are Arnold Schwarzenegger, Draco Malfoy (from Harry Potter), Elon Musk or Vladimir Putin. ??

As you can see, it's a diverse group of people. ??

The problem when I joined the Facebook groups was that I noticed how most people were always posting and showing how they were different and how other people are difficult. ??

Here is where I stopped for a second and decided that these are not the groups of like-minded people I was expecting. ??

I don't take such tests to find out who I should be for the rest of my life and then let a personality test shape who I am going forward. ??

I took it to find out what are my strengths and weaknesses in order to improve myself, and better cooperate in this world, rather than differentiate. ??

If there's one thing that you can take away from this post, it's the fact that we can easily start believing how we're a specific type of person and then our actions will be influenced by that image in our head of who we should be. ???

One of the biggest mistakes we can make is to put ourselves in a box. ???

Destiny is just a fancy word for what we're most driven to accomplish in life. If we sit all day watching the sun, no kind of "pre-determined destiny" will send us to the moon. However, if we decide to do it, then we start to shape our own destiny because all our focus and attention will go toward achieving that goal. ????
