Getting sponsors for a golf tournament or outing requires to "step outside the tee box". Charities are myopic when it comes to solicitation of sponsors especially the ones who are operating on a local level without a big national support network. And part of it may be because organizations who claim to be the expert emphasize too much on the "inside circle" - get a committee , have them tap into their cricle etc. etc., which is an 90's concept being applied to 2017.
Many golf tournaments struggle with sponsorships. One of the reasons is that they approach the same sponsors year after year which in turn are probably solicited also from a number of other charity events in the community. It is largely overlooked that there are many local businesses which are a great candidate, but where you may not have an relationship with them to ask for a sponsorship.
There is a "hidden" source for sponsorships - and it may require some help from the golf course - club members! Each club has a long list of members who own their own business. Why not offer them the oportunity to get in front of new prospects? At the same time they can support a cause through their marketing.
There are different approaches to get club members on board for a sponsorship which we can outline to you.
