Hidden Gems: Life Learnings #16
Welcome to Hidden Gems, a newsletter of my recent key takeaways and reflections from self-education.
You'll find ideas and actionable insights you can apply immediately to your life.
Spending your time wisely
The older I get, the more aware I am about how much time I have left. Some of you reading this are still in college or just entered the full-time world and trying to figure life out.
Newsflash: You'll likely be trying to figure life out for eternity.
While you are working on that, I recommend focusing on these three (3) things:
Marketing essentials for early-career individuals
If I were to recommend any podcast to someone just starting in marketing, it would be this one. One of the snippets I liked:
"I think for young professionals in marketing or in entrepreneurship. Some of the things that have really worked for me is picking a few people and really listening to them and implementing their stuff.
I feel like if you have information coming from a hundred sources, often times it's mostly conflicting or not consistent advice. And so picking people that are in the position that you want to be in or on the path that you want to be in that are several steps ahead of you and just focusing on what are the steps that they're telling me and trying to eliminate all the conflicting advice.
I think it's something that it really worked for me. I picked a couple of singular people and I listened to the things that they gave me and over the past seven years, it really worked for me and accelerated my career."

Sales tip: Don't assume you are the solution to their problems.
Being responsible vs. accountable

I coach teammates on being more responsible for the important things, instead of holding them accountable after the fact.
