When completing a recent 3D building survey, amidst the hustle and bustle of a busy town centre the 3D survey team captured a sculpture “Reflection of Bedford”.

The Faro Focus 3D X laser scanner has captured every detail of the five metre-high, abstract work in stainless welded-steel and it shows the diversity that 3D laser scanning can bring in presenting projects to clients.

The sculpture represents the diversity of ethnic backgrounds in the town and its links with brick and lace. At night it is illuminated with coloured lights. The faces, etched with brick shapes and with a lace design, are designed to be viewed from the High Street, on entering the pedestrian precinct of Silver Street. The back of the flat concave ' faces' are plain.
