The Hidden Benefit Of Belief

The Hidden Benefit Of Belief

Have you ever read The Secret?

Now I’m not getting all "woo-woo" or spiritual on you, and yes I know that simply thinking positive thoughts won't manifest positive things in your life...

The book has a lot of flaws.

BUT don’t throw out the baby with the bathwater. Belief is a powerful thing, and it is the lack of belief that holds people back from achieving their dreams.

Before I could start convincing companies to pay a premium for my services, I had to suspend my disbelief.

Before a client paid me my first retainer, effectively paying me before doing the recruiting work, I had to suspend my disbelief.

Before I set up shop as an independent recruiter under my own brand, I had to suspend my disbelief.

Before I could set up systems to automate client and candidate development, I had to suspend my disbelief.

Heck, before I could get certified as a licensed skydiver and jump out of perfectly good airplanes I had to suspend my disbelief.

...there's no such thing as a perfectly good airplane though...ha!

(And yes that is me in the picture)

See the pattern here?

All these things I did? They weren’t that hard. In fact, they were a lot easier than what I had originally thought...

But I had to believe I could first.

…and for the record, I DO NOT think that belief is all you need. That’s where The Secret loses me.

You won't manifest anything positive in your life until do the damn work.

In fact, that’s what I hate about that book. Just believing in something doesn’t change reality.

Getting people’s hopes up without giving them a plan of action can be worse then letting them live in ignorance.

There’s an ancient Japanese proverb that says "Vision without action is a daydream."

BUT, it’s that vision, that positive belief, that opens up the pathway to success...

And once you know you can, all you need to do is plug in the right action, and success is almost always guaranteed.

That was my epiphany. I had to believe that I could have it all…a thriving business that served me and my life, not the other way around.

Once you believe it’s possible, all you need is a system

I found my system. No I didn’t learn it from any so called ‘expert’ or recruiting trainer.

Don’t get me wrong….I've had great training on how to market to clients, or how to close candidates to take offers...

But there was no one out there teaching people how to set up their recruiting practices to serve their lifestyle. …and there still isn’t, at least that I've found.

But I had that mad belief that I could do it, and that was the key to everything.

Or rather, I had to suspend my disbelief if I wanted to progress to higher levels.

First I had to believe that a client would pay me $25-50K to find and place a talented individual with their company...

Then I had to believe that clients would actually pay me retainers, effectively paying me upfront before I even started recruiting on their positions...

After that came the belief that clients and candidates would come to see me as the go-to recruiter in my niche, and would seek me out when they needed my services, thus creating an inbound system to generate leads while I slept...

And then came the belief that I could actually design a lifestyle recruiting practice, where I can create a real, legit business out of my home office (with a virtual team supporting me), all while having the ability to live life on my own terms...

…and that’s why I fell in love with this business again. All those benefits I listed above…they’re real. They’re tangible.

But the hidden benefit, the one that’s most important, is the deep fundamental shift that’s taken place in my core belief system.

To achieve all of those amazing benefits above, I first had to believe. Second, I had to develop (or find) a system that works. Third, I had to take massive action...

That my friend is the secret to success.

It’s the secret to 'leveling up’ in this life, to put it into gamer's terms.

Actually, maybe it’s more akin to knowing the cheat codes to life.

Whatever it is, success breeds more success. Install the right belief systems first, and start building on your little wins over and over until they become big wins.

If I could have you take anything at all from this email, it’s that...

“Now David, the secret to success can’t be that simple."

Au contraire mon frère...

Look, you can know how to succeed on an intellectual level. Everyone does. But that doesn't get you anywhere.

You can be a spectator, and watch others succeed. But then again, as a spectator you'll get proportionate results.

You have either figure it out and implement it yourself, or have a mentor that can take you by the hand and lead you there.

That’s how you go from intellectually knowing how to succeed, to that fundamental, visceral core belief of ‘knowing’ how to succeed...

Does that make sense?

How would that feel, to know on a fundamental level, that you can succeed? That you had the cheat codes you needed to build yourself the ‘good life?’

Would you take action?

If you’re still reading this, and you took the lessons I shared in my web-class to heart, then I can only assume that you're an Implementer.

I hope you are...

Because if you want tomorrow to be different from today, then you have to change today.

Most people are too comfortable in their 'uncomfortableness' to take rapid action.

You see, it's no longer the Information Age. Information is cheap.

It's the Implementation Age.

So what are you waiting for?
