Fredrik’s tips for boosting your career ??

Step 3: Define your current situation and create a career plan and resume

1: Now it’s time to get things to happen. And first, you need to make a reality check. Do you have the skills necessary to land the job you’re looking for? Do you know you’re superpowers and personality good enough to understand what kind of company culture that matches? Be honest with yourself about your current situation and start defining a career plan based on part 1 and part 2, so you get an overview of the potential journey ahead Tips! OKR is a powerful goal setting methodology that helps you break down a long-term vision into short term initiatives. Many of the most successful companies are working with it, and it works as well for personal life. On Youtube, there are lots of instructional videos to check out in order to learn more on how to set up your personal OKR structure.

2: Create a Razor-Sharp Career Profile/Resume

Take a step back and review what you’ve documented in the previous steps. It might seem time-demanding to complete all these steps before activating your job search, but remember, you can always look for and apply to jobs in parallel with the process. Also, you don’t need to make everything perfect—putting in some time is better than none.

It’s now time to sharpen your appearance to potential employers. Keep in mind that you’ll only have a couple of seconds to catch the eye of recruiters or hiring managers. Here are four tips that can significantly increase your chances of landing an interview, based on what startup and growth companies are looking for:

1. Apply to Relevant Jobs: Focus on jobs that are clearly relevant based on your experiences and skills, not just your future preferences! If a fit isn’t obvious, explain why you’re still a strong candidate.
2. Use Social Proof to Persuade: Include quotes from former managers or colleagues directly on your resume instead of the common “references available upon request.”
3. Define Concrete Initiatives and Results: For each work experience, highlight specific initiatives and results that provide a clear picture of how you can contribute.
4. Write a “Career Highlights” Section: Position this section early in your resume to emphasize the most important points for a recruiter to remember about you.

Use your insights from steps 1-3 in our career school to write a short introduction about yourself. Tip: Structure it using Past - Present - Future to make it easy to read.

Don’t forget that the content you include in your career resume is just the foundation. My advice is to showcase this content on as many channels as possible, such as LinkedIn, HiCareer, and various job boards. You can also translate the core content from your resume into career-related posts on social media. In summary, be creative and use your content as scalable as possible.
