Hi Mom!

This weekend, many of us will find time to celebrate and remember moms in our lives who have cared for and shaped us into who we are today. As I’m putting pen to paper on this message, I’m thinking about the moms I know who are the foundation of this community. Some are CEOs and business executives, some are civic leaders and elected officials, and some are working full time as moms. It’s not uncommon to hear people say that being a mom is the hardest job, and I think that’s true. We're a stronger community because of the moms who are managing so much with grace, humor, and strength. I’m glad that the team I work with every day includes many mothers and grandmothers, and, indeed, we’re a better team because of these women.

We should find ways to support moms in this community all year long. That means focusing on how we craft workplace policies that support parents, which is included in the work of the Workforce Innovation Center at The Cincinnati Regional Chamber , led by its Executive Director and my colleague, Audrey Treasure . It also means advocating for policies that improve childcare options for parents and caregivers, including efforts led by my colleague Liz Keating , our VP of Government Affairs & Advocacy. And it includes supporting women executives by leaning into the work of our Women?Excel leadership programs – WE Lead, WE Ascend, and WE Speak – led by my colleague Devona Stripling , our Director of Women Excel and Diverse By Design.

We should have a growing, thriving community where everyone belongs, especially the moms we all love. This will be a beautiful weekend in our region, so we encourage you to get out and enjoy it with friends, family, and of course, moms.

Before I go, four quick items:

  • Check out our Best of Taste winners for the upcoming Taste of Cincinnati. Thanks to all of our celebrity tasters and congratulations to all of our winners!
  • Congratulations to all of the Flying Pig runners, and especially to the PigWorks team who produced an incredible weekend that showcased our city to tens of thousands of people.?
  • Check out the growth at Medpace ! You can read about how the company is creating one of the largest economic growth projects in our state, and creating a vibrant, growing local economy around their headquarters.?
  • Farewell to Louis Langree! Maestro, thank you for bringing so much cultural vibrancy to our region these past 11 years. We all owe the Maestro and Music Director a debt of gratitude for illuminating our city and our symphony. We’ll miss you in this role. I’ll be there to see the concert on Saturday and will raise a glass to your brilliant work in our city.?

And finally, to two of the best moms I know, my wife Becky and my mom Rose – Happy Mother's Day!
