Hi Lisa

Hi Lisa

Hi Lisa, thanks for talking to us! How long have you been at DFS, and why did you decide to join us?

My pleasure - always nice to be asked to talk about yourself for an hour! I’ve been at DFS for 10 years now. Wow, a decade. Creeps up on you! When I joined, it was purely for the piecework pay, which I knew was good. I wanted to work in a place where I’d be treated well, but I had no major aspirations beyond that point, in all honesty.?

Could you tell us a bit about how you became a team leader??

I got better and better, and realised I loved what I was doing. And, luckily, I was surrounded by managers who recognised the same thing. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve worked incredibly hard to be where I am today. But, as my ability grew, my passion did too. I found myself becoming more and more interested in the individual parts of the process, and eventually in the team leadership aspect of the work I was doing.?

I imagine that’s been quite the journey?

Yes, you could say that. I think I’ve done almost everything in my time here! Quality control, zips, fabrics, cuts, recuts, management - I know the DFS process pretty well, now.

What’s your favourite part of being a team leader??

I know it’s a cliché answer, but it’s the people in my team. They’re just amazing. The culture at DFS is so close, and that’s so true for my team. We have such a laugh, but also really come together in tough moments when things need doing, fast. It’s so refreshing to work with such great people.?

And what makes you happy in your role??

Making other people happy. I love my job. I love making people happy. And if I know I’ve made someone smile in my day, I’ve done my job.?

It sounds like you’re really happy. Where do you see your career going next??

I’m still quite happy becoming the best team leader I can be, but in the future I’d love to push myself further to shift management, process management and beyond. I feel so supported by management to build my career here - I’m constantly on courses!

We can’t wait to see where your journey goes, Lisa. Last question - what advice would you give to someone who wants to join DFS?

“Come on in! If you want to work somewhere that feels like a family, where you’re supported in everything you do -?then you needn’t look any further”
