Hi Karema — thanks for joining us! Could you tell us a little about how you joined DFS??

Of course! I’m studying English at university, and I was looking for a part time job to support me whilst I studied. Flexibility was my main priority, and DFS offered it to me from the first meeting - so I knew I was in the right place.

How long have you been here now, and how’s it working for you??

I’ve been here just under a year now, and I can honestly say it’s working so well for me! With the flexible working patterns available, I can work around my university studies. My managers are so accommodating to my needs, it honestly couldn’t be better.?

Amazing! So Karema, what’s your role here at DFS??

I’m a part-time sales advisor, on our amazing team. I did 6 weeks of training in the DFS store in Romford, before joining the sales team in our new Greenwich store.?

What’s the culture like in-store??

The culture’s honestly great, and it’s driven by the teams we have here. Everyone is so nice and positive, always supporting each other and making sure that work is a good place to be. It encourages you to play your own part in the supportive, dynamic environment.

How have you grown in your time here??

How have you grown in your time here? I've grown loads! I love to learn (even alongside my degree!) Customer service, customer management, skill development - l've done it all. My managers are so supportive, and always make sure l'm able to dedicate time towards my professional growth.

What do you look forward to each week??

The weekly meetings. They’re such a nice chance to get together, give and receive feedback, and see everyone get acknowledged for the good work they’re doing.?

What do you enjoy most about your role here??

It has to be the sense of achievement you get after making a sale. I love interacting with customers, so every sale is like the cherry on top. It fills me with confidence every time it happens!?

And what does the future hold for you, Karema??

I’ll be leaving university soon, but I don’t think I’ll be leaving DFS! I really enjoy it here, and can see a real place for me here in Greenwich.
