Hi, Helen - thanks for talking to us! Tell us a bit about your journey into DFS.?

My journey into DFS was probably a bit different than most, because I joined the sales team not long before my 60th birthday! I came from Dwell after their stores shut down, and, honestly, I was a bit scared about making the move into the DFS team. I knew it was a great place to work, but it felt like a big change in pace, and I didn’t know whether I’d be able to handle it.?

And how do you find your job now??

I absolutely love it - and I definitely can handle it!

How did your experience challenge your expectations??

Because I’d had no directly comparable customer service experience before joining DFS, I was worried I would be joining a sales team where I’d be an outlier. I couldn’t have been more wrong! I work with the most amazing people, who motivate me and who seek guidance from me as much as I seek guidance from them. We have such a close, yet balanced, working relationship - I can’t wait to come to work every day.

Why’s that?

It’s three things, really. Firstly, I get such joy out of the interactions I have with customers. Sometimes, they’ll send a thank-you email to me, with pictures of their new sofas in their homes, which makes all the hard work worthwhile.?

Then, it’s my colleagues. There’s such an energy to the place; I feel supported, but I also just have so much fun with the people I work with.?

And, finally, it’s the company. I genuinely feel so looked after and valued here. I couldn’t recommend it enough.?

What kind of support have you had at DFS??

I’ve had loads. And, every time I’ve needed support, I’ve flourished. People are just so willing to help here. My managers gave me tailored training to get up to pace, and it meant that within a month of joining I was already loving my job.?

What have been your DFS highlights so far??

Winning a Be Real award was a definite highlight, and made me feel so good about the work I do here. Being recognised for my efforts just made it all so worthwhile, and gave me the confidence to push my progression even further!?
