Hi Dylan
Hi Dylan - thanks for talking to us! Could you tell us a bit about your journey into DFS??
Hi! I joined DFS on an apprenticeship, as a service manager. That was a long time ago now, when I left school. I’d been working at a burger shop as a student, and wanted a ‘real job’ - one with structure, and opportunity for growth. That’s how I came to find DFS, and I immediately jumped at the chance to work here.?
How did you find the apprenticeship experience at DFS??
Enriching. It set me up to build the career I now have at DFS, and I couldn’t be more grateful. I started out as an apprentice service manager, and I’ve never looked back. I did the two year apprenticeship in 13 months! Learning everything there is to know about my role at DFS and getting involved in the action, right from the first day.
What was the highlight of the apprenticeship??
I’d say speaking in front of Prince Phillip and hundreds of others at St James’ Palace in London! I was invited to talk about my apprenticeship at a conference, which then meant I was invited down to London to speak about the skills I’d developed.
Public speaking used to scare me a fair bit - but after speaking in front of a prince, and hundreds of other people, that fear suddenly went away. It did wonders for my confidence, as a young man entering the world of work.
What’s been most important to you in your time here??
I’d have to say personal progression. It’s why I came to DFS, and why I’ve stayed here ever since. After completing my apprenticeship, I moved to the store in Birstall, eventually taking it over. Since then, I’ve progressed into other roles and taken on more management responsibility - but the reason I’ve grown has always stayed the same.?

And what is that reason??
The network I’ve been surrounded by since joining DFS. Yes, I’ve worked hard and always pushed for more - but I’ve constantly had a support network driving me to do that, and providing me with the opportunity to do so. It’s so motivating to have a group of driven, likeable people around you, and that’s always been my experience here.?
What most excites you about the future, Dylan?
The fact that I have so much left to learn, and so much room to progress further within DFS. The sky’s the limit!?
Hi Dylan well done and a great read
