HHI-EMD, World’s First MAN ME-GA FAT
The Engine & Machinery Division of Hyundai Heavy Industries (hereafter HHI-EMD) announced that it has successfully completed the world first MAN ME-GA’s, the Low-pressure Dual fuel engine, official FAT on 28th and 29th June in witness of parties, the ship owner and the Class.
The HHI-EMD had also an experience to test the world first MAN ME-GI, the high pressure duel fuel engine, in 2011. The ME-GA engine is simplified the fuel supply system in vessel by enabling low-pressure fuel supply due to the Otto-cycle process, especially it is advantageous for the LNG carrier that use the BOG as fuel, and is characterized to minimize the methane slip as well as the optimization of the engine efficiency by the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) system as a standard.
Now, HHI-EMD is manufacturing a number of the same type engine, the first engine will be installed to the 174k CBM LNG Carrier in mid of August which is being built in Hyundai Heavy Industries shipyard, and said it plans to actively respond to diversified customer’s needs by enabling to provide all kind of solutions for LNG fuel combustion engine.

2 年It is a delight to see the introduction of ME-GA technology in Marine engines. The DFDE, ME-GI and now ME-GA gives a wide range of option to buyers to opt for better and more efficient technology. Can't wait to see the results of the ME-GA engines.

An interesting evolving LNG industry-
