HGNH International at LME Europe Annual Conference

The LME's annual European conference kicked off at the Queen Elizabeth II Centre on 9 October London local time, with the LME Metals Symposium leading the way. Focusing on the ever-changing metals market, the seminar attracted over 600 industry experts and delegates to discuss issues including the macroeconomic outlook, market trends and issues facing the metals industry today, such as sustainability and supply chain related topics.

Nicolas Aguzin, CEO of Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (HKEx), welcomed metal industry experts from around the world. In his speech, he also mentioned that following last year's nickel fiasco, the nickel market has regained "a degree of stability", noting that liquidity has increased and volatility has decreased, and that the LME has taken steps to improve the transparency of the OTC market, and that he is confident that nickel contracts will stabilise. He then mentioned that the LME's action plan to strengthen and enhance its markets, published in March this year, would help ensure the long-term health and efficiency of the LME. In addition, he noted the LME's focus on strengthening its ties with China and its commitment to creating more opportunities for mainland Chinese and international clients to benefit from this connectivity through a range of innovative initiatives to improve transparency and price discovery in the global marketplace.
