Hey ladies, you have a great taste, so does SHE
Sitting in a quiet café, watching the raindrops fall with a little splatter, doesn’t rain make everything so beautiful!! I was watching these two girls (probably best friends) walking together in the same outfit, they looked happy. Reminded me of two elderly ladies I saw in Thailand (pictured #bffgoals ) with similar outfit walking together.
I couldn’t help but think when a lady sees another lady wearing the same outfit as her, most of the time she says to herself “oh no, why is wearing the same clothes as me. What will everyone think?”. However, men tend to think otherwise, when a guy sees another guy wearing the same outfit, they go and compliment each other “great choice buddy!”
Our entertainment industry has shown us during any important event such as award shows, weddings, birthdays or even going to the airport, celebrity attire has to be unique which no one has worn before. This could also mean the entire jeans are ripped or rather more ripped than the other. And by chance, if someone wore a similar dress then our media doesn't let them live it down. However, my point isn't about the celebrities, they have an image to uphold and they have people to ensure that they do.
My point is when we dress similarly in office or events, why do we get so offended or shy? Don’t get me wrong - I have done it too- I was once in an exhibition where I saw another girl wearing the same Zara jacket as I. While I was contemplating what to say, the other girl said: "Hey! great choice with the jacket". I couldn’t help but smile, though my smile was big, I realized my thinking was so small. This beautiful empowered stranger taught me such a valuable lesson with just a few words. I shouldn't be embarrassed when someone dresses similar to me, I should celebrate that we are both great at putting an outfit together.
We are in a world where everyone’s told to be unique including (and especially) the materialistic stuff. So, what, if another person has the same taste as me- shouldn’t we applaud the fact that there is another woman with just as great taste as you and I?
