A Hero is...
Many people have heroes in life. They are usually those that have done something that required courage such as saving someone’s life or doing something extraordinary. Did you ever think that you could be a hero? You may not be a hero to others initially, but what about being a hero for your own personal growth and progress. I like the quote about hanging on just a minute longer to reach a tipping point that puts you over the top and onto the next journey that defines success for you.
How often do you stop just shy of reaching an important milestone on your journey? I remember doing my first half marathon and the tenacity that was required to finish the race. There were many times that I thought to myself, “I can’t finish it”. Fatigue set in and I just wanted to stop and give up. But then I thought about the goal that I have had for a number of years. The time was here and my opportunity was right before me. So I pushed hard and did finish the race. I was my own hero and marked this race off my list.
Remember that most things that are difficult help us to grow in the deepest ways. If life’s endeavors were easy, everyone would be successful in all that they want to achieve. The key to making progress revolves around hard, smart and planned work.
When you are faced with your next big feat…
~Plan your work and work your plan.
~Hang on just a minute longer (or whatever it takes) and push through the tough stuff.
~Don’t forget to celebrate in a big way when you can say, “I DID IT!”
