This will be difficult to read; it was even harder to write.
I have advanced kidney disease and am in urgent need of a living?kidney transplant donor.
?I have an inherited kidney disease from my father. He was taken from us when I was 3 years old. I have lived successfully with the disease all these years until now. My kidneys are failing.?
I am currently on a waiting list for a kidney from a deceased donor. Unfortunately, the typically wait is 5-7 years. Given my rapid decline I cannot wait.
Renewal is a non-profit organization that I partnered with to help me navigate the donation process. Calls and emails to Renewal are strictly confidential, and not discussed with anyone, even myself. If you think you might want to learn more, please email or call:

2 年Terri, I too have an inherited kidney disorder that may, at some point, result in a need for a transplant. I know the difficulties you have faced and are taking on and wish you all the strength and courage you need. If okay with you, I will share this with my Alport Syndrome groups and request they share?? <3 <3

2 年Terri! But more importantly, to the 31 comments, 145 likes and 162 shares. It only takes one of you. I’m a living kidney donor. At a breakfast a few years ago with one of my oldest friends from UCLA undergrad, over our quarterly sunny side up eggs, english muffins and a side of peanut butter. I think I smiled, passed the salt & pepper and said, ‘you can have mine!’ And just like that. My life changed. His life changed. His kids bloomed, my kids beamed. We all leaned into the winds of hope and love. And science. Always the science at my backside, reminding me that kidneys have been transplanted since the 1950’s. That we know how to do this. And how to live whole, long lives with one awesome little kidney left behind to thrive inside of me. The hours and hours of testing that I submitted myself to were less about how good of a match I was for Jeffrey Rose, those hours of testing were about how good of a candidate WAS I to live a long & healthy life motoring along on one less kidney. So, to anyone who might ever consider raising your hand for Terri here or anyone else with this need, I do submit to you that the scientific rigor that attaches itself to your decision is something of profound merit ~
