Be a Hero

Be a Hero

The Center for Volunteer Caregiving remains the only non-profit organization in Wake County focused on volunteer caregiver services. As the general population ages and resources shrink, more and more people will have to rely on friends, family and volunteers to serve as their unpaid caregivers.

All over Wake County, families are struggling to take care of themselves while caring for those they love. If it is not you, someone in your neighborhood is a caregiver and chances are they are getting help from The Center whether it be from a respite volunteer, Prelude Respite program or as a participant in our Caregiver Academy.

Be a hero, Give Today

Here's one of the many stories about a caregiver who is receiving no cost services from The Center for Volunteer Caregiving.

In 2010, Adele’s long journey as a caregiver began; one which brought her to The Center. Each day brought new challenges. Initially, she continued to teach and was able to leave Nick at home. The few hours of visits from The Center’s volunteers provided comforting support. Then over the years, as Nick’s disease progressed and multiple care options failed, Adele began to rely more and more on The Center.

Adele says The Center “has greatly enriched both our lives, I feel more “normal” having others share my world.” Read more about Nick and Adele in this Caregiver Feature.

The Center has been a resource to caregivers just like Adele for over 25 years. Getting people to the doctor, providing respite, and helping them to keep their loved ones home as long as possible.

Please consider a gift of $100 or whatever you are able to give to support The Center for Volunteer Caregiving and ensure that volunteer caregiving continues in Wake County. Your support is needed in order for The Center to keep helping families including Adele and Nick.

It's easier than ever to give gifts in honor or memory of someone. Email The Center if you want to make a monthly gift. Or mail a check to: The Center for Volunteer Caregiving; 1150 SE Maynard Rd., Suite 210 Cary, NC 27511.

Thank you for being a hero to the more than 700 Care Receivers The Center for Volunteer Caregiving helps in Wake County.
