A Hero of Higher Ed

The Baltimore Sun recently carried the story that Freeman Hrabowski III will retire from the presidency of the University of Maryland, Baltimore County after 30 years of exemplary leadership.

I am a great admirer of Freeman and all that he has done at UMBC (my wife's alma mater) as is everyone else in higher education. Truly, he is a hero for equity, inclusion, and advancing the careers and lives of so many young people. A year ago, I had the opportunity to conduct a virtual fireside chat with Freeman (sans fireplace, I'm afraid) and am pleased to repost it here, with applause and great admiration for a true leader and visionary.
