A hero is coming ??♂?

A hero is someone who brings hope, someone who through his bravery and courage is able to save the world, to move it forward. We have no shortage of those in this day and age. The world is constantly changing and with these changes come novel problems or persistent ones, examples of such problems are inequality, racism, poverty, corruption and much more. Contrarily to movies where the villains are depicted as special persons with special abilities, in our society the villains are all these problems we have to fight against and so our heroes are those people who are able to solve these problems and restore hope in our hearts.

I will take for example MLK and all the work he did fighting against racism, Nelson Mandela and all he did fighting against segregation, Abraham Lincoln ending slavery. Looking at all these today it might not seem as much, but you have to look at it from the perspective of people at that time, those problems seemed to be unsurmountable and yet a hero came, one who didn’t know it was impossible so he did it.

Today we also have our share of problems, those things which seem impossible to fix, those things for which we have no solution, and we are slowly losing hope in a solution ever being found. They might differ based on the country you are in, but there are some which are common to us all; poverty, bad leadership, food insecurity, climate change, pandemics, aliens and much more. There seems to be no solution to all these problems and hope feels lost at this point, nobody seems to know what to do, we are divided in our opinions, there is no clear solution in sight, whether it's climate or poverty, everyone thinks their solution is the best but….

Even in the midst of all this there still lies a glimmer of hope, there is still the unwavering possibility of a hero rising among us all to fix these situations, to bring a sustainable change which will rekindle the flame of hope in our hearts. I don’t know where he is, who he is or how he is going to do it, but I know somewhere, somehow he or she is just waiting for the right time to take action.

What can we do then while waiting for this hero?

We have to pave the way. We have to lay down the foundations on which this hero is going to walk on, we have to clear the road for his job to be easier, and this entails doing all we can to address these problems.

We walk on the shoulders of those who came before us

Their sacrifice served to pave the way ever so slightly for us to walk us, to shine a light on the path we need to take and to move the mark just a little further. All of our contributions are essential to building the overall picture, however so slightly. Without the input of each one of us, then the task will be even more challenging than it is already. Let's work together to pave the way for this hero, each one of us, in our little way, let's strive to bring solutions to all these problems.
