Here's why you should never meditate

At any given moment, the only thing that truly exists in your life is the present.?

Everything else is just happening in your mind.?

So whenever you dwell about the past or worry about the future, you’re technically missing out on life.?

Naturally then, if you want to live a more fulfilling one, a great place to start would be by spending more time in the present and less time in the Past or Future.?

Being present however is not something that comes naturally… and in a world where we have more distractions than ever, it’s never been easier to miss out on life.?

Luckily, the ability to be more present is a muscle that can be developed and maintained.?

This is where meditation comes in.?

It’s a practice that allows you to build the muscle of being present. It’s like going to the gym for the mind.?

One of the most common types of meditation involves noticing when you get distracted and bringing your attention back to something in the present moment (ie. your breath, a part of your body etc.)?

Every time you bring your attention back: that’s like doing one rep.?

The more reps you do, the better you get.?

When I first started meditating, I used to get mad at myself every time I got distracted.

I couldn’t even count to 7 breaths before my mind would wonder.

But a great meditation session ISN’T the one where your mind doesn’t get distracted.?

It’s the one where you notice that it does.

There’s no such thing as being good at meditation, there’s only being good at showing up.?

Meditation isn't reserved for spiritual seekers.?

Just like going to the gym isn't reserved for Bodybuilders.

But one thing you can be sure of:?

If you want weak muscles: never practise lifting weights.?

If you want to miss out on life: never practise meditation.?

Excellent comparison Alex ?stergaard To be physically jacked you need to apply focused effort, which is mindfulness in a nutshell. Or you can switch off, mindless eating being an example of mindfulness in another form. Best practice? Like anything else... 1) Ensure its all part of your vision for the future 2) Do what you want 3) Live

Alex ?stergaard thank you for reminding us that all what matters is the present moment. Meditation is one of my ways to start my day and tune into my body. How do you usually meditate?

Becoming present by focusing our mind on one thing using any of our senses really, breathing of course, but also listening to or touching something specific brings us back to the now. Great reminder! ??
