Titans break ground on new Nissan Stadium. Here's what to expect
The Tennessee Titans broke ground on the $2.1 billion new Nissan Stadium Feb. 29.
Nashville Mayor Freddie O’Connell, stars Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood, Titans owner Amy Adams Strunk and more grabbed shovels and hard hats to mark the official start of the three-year construction of the new Nissan Stadium.
Situated to the east of the current Nissan Stadium, the 1.8 million-square-foot stadium will have 60,000 seats, with sightlines 38% closer to the field than the current stadium, a stage as large as Ryman Auditorium’s and will be the first NFL stadium with a 12,000-square-foot community space.
“A generation ago, my father, Bud Adams, moved the Oilers to Tennessee. He saw a beautiful city here in Nashville, poised for growth and ready for the NFL stage. … Even with all that foresight, I don’t think my father could have dreamed of just how right he was,” Adams Strunk said.??| Read more?

East Bank development deal weighs 4.5 pounds. We took our first look.
The legislation that cements Metro's development agreement with its chosen East Bank developer clocks in at 438 pages, nearly the size of a full 5-pound ream of printer paper.
That's not just because lawyers were involved. It reflects the scale and intricacy underpinning the city's sweeping vision of a revitalized area across the Cumberland River from downtown, anchored by a $2.1 billion domed stadium for the Tennessee Titans — and about 30 acres of adjacent mixed-use development created by Boston's The Fallon Company . Those buildings would rise on city-owned land.
The Business Journal took a first-pass through the legislation (available here) and a related non-binding agreement with the Tennessee Performing Arts Center , which has to find a new home and wants to build a venue on the East Bank. The TPAC legislation sets the stage for the organization and Metro to finalize "definitive agreements" that would require Metro Council approval.? |? Here's what stood out to us.
